What will happen in the first session?
I will invite you to talk about your reasons for seeking counselling and what you hope to achieve. I hope to answer any questions you may have about the therapeutic process and talk through some practical details such as appointment times and confidentiality.
How many sessions will I need?
This is based on your individual needs. Some people, who want to explore a specific issue, choose short-term therapy, which is approximately six to ten sessions. For those who wish to focus on a number of underlying issues, or seek a deeper understanding of themselves, choose longer-term therapy. In either case, the number of counselling sessions is negotiated and reviewed on a regular basis.
How long do sessions last?
Individual sessions last sixty minutes, couple counselling ninety minutes.
What about cancellations?
To ensure the smooth running of the practice, 24 hours notice is required if you can’t make a session. This avoids having to charge you the full fee.
